CJWDT: SEARCH

So.... Day before yesterday I arrived at Berlin by train. And this is my strarting point of job hunting in Europe. Simply(but bloody hard, I guess)I just want to find right place, right restaunrant where I can feel and share my passion, spirit and inspiration. The ideal position would be sous chef position with mixture of molecular gastronomy and european cuisine(not French, cause I want something different, Spanish or mediterranean would be nice....). I don't mind being a cook, but 1. I need to learn more management work and restaurant business. 2. I wanna reflect my idea into the menu. But same time management require the language skills to do paper work, ordering and others, so realisticly if it's Spain or anywhere possibly but UK and Denmark(?), my chance to get a management job must be super slim....

Over years for this CJWDT I've been making my personal restaurant list where I want to check out worldwide. Sometimes I heard the names from my friends, but mostly I find through surfing the internet. I've found the names by google search with "molecular gastronomy", "avant garde", or "inventive" and name of the area or country. Also many restaurant rating websites help me out. Right now I have list of around 70, 80 restaurants Africa, Asia, South America, Europe... all over!! Some of the restaurants are well known such as Fat duck, El bulli and Noma, but there are many names which may not well-known.

The follwing links are my favorite websites to help my search:

http://www.finediningexplorer.com/index.php (Best resource, worldwide rating guide and lots of useful links)

http://www.restaurant-ranking.com/ (the name say what it is, missing so many names though..)

http://www.andyhayler.com/ (worldwide 3 star list, blogs and lots of food pics, very useful, superb!!)

http://www.gaultmillau.de/ (european restaurant rating website kinda like zagat...)

http://www.theworlds50best.com/ (El bulli get famous because of this, is it???)

http://www.viamichelin.com/ (michelin, I don't always agree, but yet very useful resource to gather names)

http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?/topic/119328-worlds-best-modernmolecular-restaurants/ (old post of egullet: list of world's best molecular style restaurants)

After looked up from these websites, I usually blog search for the restaurant review & pictures and find another names from the blog just like chain reaction. I still keep finding new names weekly bases by web surf, my restaurants list get bigger every week!!

Next post I'll update my restaurant list of Germany. Hopefully I can stage a few of them in Berlin!
