It has been over a month since last post. I was in Singapore, looking for my job, discovering new ingredients, eating local dishes, getting new culinary inspiration and simple pure life refreshment.... I've staged four restaurants, talked with several chefs and did have a couple job offers. But I decided to move on, CJWDT'11 mini Asian tour continues!
Now... I'm Visiting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I arrived yesterday and today I was randomly walking around the city center area. As usually, I listed up the local dishes I want to try, local markets to discover new ingredients and the places where I can channel with unknown culture. The following is the great web resources for KL I found.
Local food blogs:

Malaysian local dishes resources:

The places where culinary inspirations flow:

http://www.centralmarket.com.my/index.php
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petaling_Street
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batu_Caves
And... the following is the starting list of local dishes I'd like to try:
nasi lemak
nasi goreng
mee goreng
asam laksa
pie tee
steamboat
roti jala
ikan baker
kari ayam
air batu campur
mango lolo
hakka yong tau foo
chilli pan mee
beef rendang
I'm assuming that foods in Malaysia seems similar to Singapore. But it would be fun to see how they season same dishes differently.
Tomorrow I'll explore chinatown, central market, masjid India street and ramadan night market. Just as I did in Singapore, I'll eat, drink and snack local dishes every couple hrs until I get stuffed!
I have 4 more days in KL, then.... Vietnam NEXT!!
