CJWDT'13 South American tour 7th stop..... Brazil! I can say this whole tour concept started from one favor "I wanna go to Brazil" And finally I made it! I was in Brazil for nearly 3wks, Sao Paulo, Rio de janeiro and then Foz de Iguazu.
Brazilian food have diverse range as the size of the country and I would say a lot different from the previous countries I visited during this tour. Seem like having African background which I didn't see previous countries. The talk of Brazilian cuisine will leave to Mr.wikipedia(laugh), but I have fortune to try wide range of different regional cuisine in Brazil. The picture above is some munch pics from my days in Brasil. Chrurrasco, feijoda, moquecar, rabada, mocoto, acai, caju, pato no tucupi, bobo de camarao.... I did have so much virgin munch!
Gastronomic scene in Brazil is really strong and upcoming. D.O.M. has been one of the restaurant I'm interested for a while, but unfortunately I couldn't set up stage and get any table to dine .... As I imagined, Brazil seems like Spain / France, I mean people don't speak English too much and have language barrier to work. I sent out over 15 resumes, knock the doors, but I could set up only one stage.
I spent 2 days stage at Epice restaurant in Sao paulo. The following link is the interview of chef Landgraf, quite interesting to read. Some of the flavor combination I saw at Epice was quite inspiring such as pear/sage, jack daniel/honey, manic/foie gras.... I have no doubt Epice will enter latin America's 50 best restaurants this fall. Here I want to say thank you again for chef Landgraf & Epice team!
