7/14/13-7/21/13: Vienna, Austria
The journey continues, 3hrs bus ride from Zagreb, 35th countries on CJWDT... Vienna, Austria! Say.... Vienna is a big city... it's much bigger than 2 previous cities I visited. The city is historical, majestic and.... super photogenic! Vienna is like one hell of labyrinth, I was lost every day, every effin day.... well, I must I admit I'm a terrible navigator though... Hell of 7days fun of Vienna, speak of.... STAGE, this time I spent 2 days at Vincent restaurant.
Restaurant Vincent is a small restaurant in historical building, in the basement they have a giant 'cave' stage. During my stage there're only 4 people(one is a dish washer, 3 chefs) plus myself in the kitchen, I was truly impressed the way they running different degustation menus only by 3 people. The dishes are modern/innovative Austrian and the dishes are not super complicated, but not simple, either. I could say they give me a good idea how I can manage a small kitchen with a few people... I mean for P.S.I. Here I'd like to say thank you again for chef Zinter, chef Schultes and the rest of the team. Thank you for showing me 'real nightlife of Vienna'(laugh)! I hope you guys have a great summer vacation!!
And.... another mission of CJWDT, discovering new ingredients... I tried snail caviar & liver first time at restaurant Vincent. I got kinda cracked up by the size of caviar which is as big as small tapioca pearl... taste-wise... nun... okay, sure not Ostetra... / laugh I also had so much fun to tasting different vinegars at Gegenbauer vinegar brewery, such as asparagus, melon, cucumber, elder berry, saffron, tomato, melon..... Well, sorry, I didn't buy anything after tasting mucho! My backpack is already overflowing.....
On my last day in Vienna, I went to the wine tasting event which showing the pictures above. There're 100 of wines to taste with 1 euro(!) and 5,6 different food booth including one from restaurant Vincent. The 2nd picture from the bottom is from restaurant Vincent. Chorizo espuma, poached shrimp, mussel, peas, saffran foam, cripsy puff rice and lobster bisque injection..... kind of reconstructed paella.... superb!!
